1. What is the best
method for running my MagDrive HHO Generator?
The Magdrive HHO Generator must be run
in hybrid fuel mode, meaning using your regular fuel along with the fuel
produced from the MagDrive HHO Generator. Most users achieve a 15 - 45%
fuel savings on average.
2. If I run it as a hybrid fuel system, will I get
rust or corrosion?
The fossil fuel
(petrol or diesel) produces more than enough heat during combustion so that
when the HHO burns, the engine temperatures are high enough to keep it as a
vapored steam until it exits the exhaust system. Units have been running for
over 2 years without any evidence of moisture or corrosion
problems.
3. Will I get
instructions on how to install my MagDrive HHO
Generator?
With every unit you receive
basic installation instructions on how to install the MagDrive HHO
Generator. This information is also listed on our support page. It
includes simple wiring instructions and where and how the HHO Generator
should be connected to your engine. This is supplied for
informational purposes only (see next
point).
4. What about my insurers - do
I need to inform them?
We have spoken to a number of
vehicle insurance companies in the U.K. and they have said that installation
of our units will not impact existing insurance premiums providing the following is
adhered to:
1. They must be informed of
the installation
2. They insist that the units are installed at
a garage and/or by a qualified mechanic or installation engineer. Depending on
the insurance company's policies, they may require a copy of one of the
following documents:
a. Installation report on headed paper from the
garage/mechanic/installation engineer that carried out the
installation.
b. Letter on headed paper from
garage/mechanic/installation engineer confirming they carried out the
installation.
c. Official payment receipt
for the installation supplied by the garage/mechanic/installation engineer
.
As
there are a large number of insurance companies in the
U.K. each with their own policies and procedures we recommend that before installing
a Magdrive HHO Generator you speak to your automotive insurance
company.
5. Do I need to inform anyone
else before or after the installation?
If your car was registered after 1st March 2001, you will have to
inform the DVLA of a change of fuel type. Please visit their website for
further information.
We
would also appreciate feedback
in the form of pictures, testimonial, statistics (fuel savings etc) for
use on our website. Please see our Submit Your Review webpage or
contact us for more details.
6.
I have two vehicles, one is fuel injected and the other is an older
vehicle with a carburetor. Will the HHO Generators work on both
systems?
Yes
they will. For older engines with a carburetor the HHO outlet hose(s) should be
connected into the riser plate orifice located underneath the
carburetor or directly into the assembly after the
air filter.
On newer engines, the HHO outlet hose(s) should
be connected into the air intake plenum as close to the throttle body
assembly as possible. The HHO hoses must be connected to the air intake
system after the MAF sensor, if one is present. Also see 20.
below.
If
your vehicle has a turbo (and perhaps an intercooler) fitted, the entry
point for the HHO outlet hoses will differ from above. The HHO hoses
must
enter the air intake
system before the turbo otherwise no fuel saving benefits will be
realised.
7. If I have
questions is there any tech support for my MagDrive HHO
Generator?
Yes.
You can contact us anytime by email at support@magdrive.co.uk and we will reply
a.s.a.p. Or you can contact your local sub-distributor during their business hours. Please
visit our Distributors page for details
of the sub-distributor covering your area. If no sub-distributor has been appointed yet,
you can contact us directly.
8. Is there
any kind of guarantee that comes with my MagDrive HHO
Generator?
Yes. We guarantee that the product is
free from defects and errors in workmanship and it will perform as
advertised. Depending upon your vehicle and driving conditions, you can
expect anywhere from 15% to 40%+ fuel savings (increase) over your current
fuel usage. Please
read our product Guarantee page linked from the Main page. All accessory parts
are
guaranteed for 90 days from installation date, i.e. switch, pump,
relays. The Brick cell is guaranteed for 1 year from date
of purchase.
9. Why are your HHO Generators overall less expensive than
others?
The principle idea is
to make our premium quality products affordable so that everyone can
benefit from them.
10. Do I
have to remember to turn the unit off when not in
use?
To
avoid this problem, power to the unit is controlled
by your ignition switch so the unit only operates when the vehicle
is running.
11. What about
cold weather - what do I do to protect the HHO
Generator?
First
of all the HHO generators use distilled water and acetic acid as the
electrolyte, commonly available as distilled white vinegar. The reservoir
also contains the electrolyte, as does the HHO generator (brick). Being
acetic acid based, minimal freezing protection is all that's necessary.
Both can freeze solid without any major problems. Once the power switch is
turned on the HHO gen will immediately begin to thaw
out.
If you want to
have added protection against freezing (to at least -10):
a. Use denatured alcohol or ethyl alcohol - mix 1 part alcohol to every
5 parts vinegar. b. Alternatively, use 5% distilled white vinegar in a
50/50 mix with blue windshield washer solvent (contains
anti-freeze).
c. Insulate the
Brick cell, reserve tank and hoses with foam pipe wrap insulation,
available from most DIY stores. d. In some countries, plate heaters are
available - can be attached to
the brick and powered from the vehicle's electrical system
12. What
if I want to move the HHO Generator to my other car or
truck?
If it
is going to be transferred over, you can get all of the necessary hose,
clamps, fittings etc directly from us or our sub-distributors within the
U.K.
13. How far can I travel using the Auto-Fill add on
with my HHO generator before I have to refill the reservoir
tank?
Mileage
would depend upon engine size and vehicle travelling speeds.
14. Are
MagDrive FuelfromH2o LLC planning on producing other
units?
Yes.
Please remember
to visit our News page for further information and regular
updates.
15. How long
does it take to get my MagDrive HHO generator from the time I ordered
it?
The
units are manufacturered in the U.S. and at present are ordered on-demand
from the manufacturer. As a rule it will
be delivered to you within 30 days from the normal working day we receive
your cleared funds (U.K. mainland only - deliveries to other parts of the British
Isles may take a bit longer due to circumstances beyond our control).
16. Why dont
you sell units that can run the vehicle on just HHO alone without any
other fuel?
Please visit our News webpage on a
regular basis for further information and product updates.
17. Some basic answers
to basic questions - Series 11a, 12a, 14a & 15a models.
-
a. 2.5- 4 amps cold...7 -
11 amps warmed up.
-
b. Use 5% distilled white vinegar
for your electrolyte (50:50 mix of 5% d.w. vinegar and distilled water for
14a range).
-
c. There is always some kind of
condensate residue in lines when shut down & cooled off.
-
d. Production stats are
available upon request.
-
e. The 'check engine light' has
never come on once on any vehicle no matter what year, model or
engine.
-
f. No explosive gases
float around under the hood. It is an on-demand sealed
system.
18. Why and what are
the reasons for
developing the MagDrive units for public use and how does it
work?
With the never ending increases in
energy costs there has to be a way to break this cycle
of rising fuel costs. So why not try to find a better and less expensive way
of using our available energy?
Hydrogen and Oxygen
are two of the most abundant elements available to us on this planet, so why not
use them to our advantage?
Hydrogen per unit is 3
times more powerful in energy produced than petrol and almost 4 times
that of ethanol. When burnt in conjunction with Oxygen the resulting by-product is water (h2o). So
if you can follow along:
Lets
take some water, a compound of 2 elements (2 parts hydrogen and 1 part
oxygen - h2o or HHO) and using electricity split them apart into their
separate gases. One gas is hydrogen [fuel] and the other oxygen
[oxidizer]. Let's then introduce them into an internal combustion engine
running on petrol. Keep
in mind petrol as a fuel is barely 13% efficient to start
with. So after introducing the more powerful fuel of hydrogen and oxygen [HHO] into the engine
what exactly do you achieve?
a.
For starters the engine will run like it never ran
before - it will act as though its brand new with the pep and performance you would
expect from a new car.
b. The emissions will fall to unbelievably low levels, rivaling (or bettering)
a new car's emission standards.
c. The petrol (or diesel) will combust
not at a 13% efficiency but at almost a 98% efficiency leaving less polutants to be
emitted out of the exhaust.
d. The engine's lubricating oil will stay cleaner, the spark
plugs will last longer, the engine will stay cleaner internally and the engine temps will drop
by a few degrees C.
e. Best
of all, you start with water,
split the water into 2 gasses, burn the 2 gasses with the
petrol and end up as result with water at the exhaust outlet right back where you
started from in the begining.
And what did
you get out of all of this? Anywhere from 15 - 40%+ more miles per litre
from the inefficient stand-alone petrol/diesel that you started out with as well as
a few pounds more in your pocket at the petrol pump. There are 100s of
people out there doing this everyday with Magdrive HHO units - some do
better than others but overall every penny saved at the petrol pump adds up to more
money left in your pocket.
19. When I
start to lose fuel economy and performance what's happening and what do I
do?
Assuming your car is being maintained to
the manufacturer's minimum standard and has not developed an obvious fault, loss of fuel savings and
performance tells us one thing without any guess work - here is what's
happening.
As
the electrolyte is used and new replacement electrolyte is introduced into
the generator, minerals and chemicals from the used electrolyte are being
left behind in the Generator. This can build up over a period of time
(that's why its very important to use good quality distilled white
vinegar). This build up provides
the electrical
current with an alternative path to conduct through instead of
the electrolyte. Remember, that electricity will take the shortest and easiest
path. The current is being conducted by the residue and not by the
HHO electrolyte. Some symptoms will be that the unit does not get
up to operating temp or the HHO production drops off and fuel economy and performance
will begin or drop off gradually or almost completely if not tended
to.
To remedy this situation, empty and flush out the generator as per
the instructions in point 25 below and refill with distilled white vinegar. After performing this
minor service your HHO generator will start to perform as it did
originally.
Remember, maintenance is necessary to keep your MagDrive
HHO generator working efficiently and up to operating temperatures. Like everything else, it does need
some care and maintenance according to the use and demands placed upon
it.
20. Do I have to
make any changes to my vehicle's engine or computer?
It is sometimes necessary
on older vehicles (1985 and older) to adjust the engine's timing a couple
of degrees and possibly also the engine's idle
speed.
On newer vehicles, the on-board computer reads information
from one or more of the following (if
present)....
-
Exhaust Gas
Recirculation
(EGR)
sensor
-
O2
(a.k.a. LAMBDA or oxygen)
sensor
-
Throttle position
sensor
-
Manifold Air Pressure (MAP)
sensor
-
Mass Air Flow (MAF)
sensor
....in order to make adjustments to the fuel/air
mixture automatically. It must be noted
that on some fuel injected vehicles some attention to and/or fine tuning of the
oxygen and/or MAP sensor control system may be required in order to reap
the maximum benefit from any brand of HHO
generator.
21. What
about installation location - where is the best location to install my
MagDrive HHO Gen?
This will
be checked by the installer,
but the most advantageous location to install a MagDrive HHO Generator is
in front of the radiator or elsewhere within the engine compartment. Please
see the HHO Generators page on our website for each model's dimensions to
determine which HHO generator kit you have enough space for within your
vehicle's engine compartment.
22. What is the best
and most accurate method of setting up my HHO Gen with
electrolyte?
See point 25 below.
23. Why do we have to do
this?
By
correctly filling up your HHO generator like this it will perform
optimally and you will maximise your fuel savings.
24. Where can I get distilled
white vinegar from for my HHO generator?
Any grocery store or supermarket. It may be more cost
effective to purchase larger quantities (5 litres) from a wholesale
outlet.
Please see our support page for further
information.
25. How do I
service or clean out my Magdrive HHO
generator?
It's a very easy 10 minute process - just follow these
simple steps:
-
1. Turn off unit, remove fill and
drain plugs.
-
2. Drain unit using drain plug
located on bottom of HHO gen.
-
3. Flush with water and allow to
drain.
-
4. Install drain plug and fill with
vinegar.
-
5. Turn on power [do not start
engine].
-
6. Add distilled white vinegar
until level sensor relay clicks at proper full mark in the Auto Ctrap.
-
7. Re-install auto Ctrap fill plug,
top off reserve tank and you are done for another maintenance period.
-
8. It doesn't hurt to also drain and flush the Auto
Ctrap during maintenance, to insure there isn't any residue collected in
the bottom of the Auto Ctrap.
-
9. To minimise the amount of
build up in the HHO generator, when the reservoir needs
refilling use distilled water instead of distilled white vinegar and alternate between
the two liquids for each refill.
Remember, you are using white distilled
vinegar (acetic acid), a common food item containing distilled water
[potable], meaning no toxic chemicals. Maintenance is a water flush
out. The vehicle exhaust according to all certified emission reports
should be substantially greener than anything now required by emission
laws. So although MagDrive units may come in assorted models and/or
colours, they are all in essence...
